Matariki Celebrations for 2023
Monday morning saw the beginning of our school's Matariki Celebrations for 2023. This is the third year we have done this morning celebration, and the numbers have grown exponentially!
Matariki is about coming together and looking forward to the year ahead, but also reflecting back on who is important to us. As a school, we have connections with a wider school community and have been collaborating with them for this celebration. Having a group from Stonefields school meet us at the beach and join us for karakia and waiata, is the essence of Matariki. Coming together to celebrate, and make bonds with new people.
For the remainder of the celebrations the Video Clip of our shared waiata will come out soon, and the artwork is displayed at Orakei Bay Village.
Matariki is not officially in the sky until the 14th of July. There are many amazing events to get involved in if you would like to celebrate this day with your whanau.
Thank you to all those who came on Monday. It was a very special day.
If you have any photos of videos, please send them to klawrence@kohimarama.school.nz
