A Message from Kiri Team
Kia ora everybody!
“Welcome to a new term - a fresh chapter filled with opportunities to grow, learn and achieve together. A season of curiosity, collaboration and confidence for every student and family.”
We’re in for an eventful term, Kiri Team is growing! We have a New Entrant Learning Space 5 that has started up with Mrs Farah Dalal and in Learning Space 3 we have Michelle Gower. A warm welcome to our new teachers, new students and their families.
Everybody has settled into the new term showing lots of enthusiasm to learn! Routines are back in place with children able to organise themselves quickly into their learning groups. We have observed a remarkable growth in the children’s confidence and independence. A good holiday does wonders in renewing energy.
Last term there were some delightful self portraits painted by Learning Spaces 3 and 4. A lot of hard work and attention went into these, and the children are rightly proud of what they’ve achieved. If you get a chance please stop by and have a look.

This term the Kohimarama Value is Reliability, the children in Learning Space 3 wrote stories about how they show reliability. Each story explains how they are going to show reliability. The children have illustrated the stories delightfully. Please enjoy.

Last week Learning Spaces 1 and 2 in Kiri Team took the opportunity to learn about Fire Safety. They learnt about the different types of fire and how to be safe.

We are excited about our Inquiry this term, which is the ‘The Wonderful World of Birds’ . This is an engaging topic that lends itself to Science-classification, adaptations, Art, Reading and Writing. We are starting with our Kohimarama birds and learning about how their behaviours relate to our School Values.
Ngā mihi, Kiri Team

The Kohimarama Way - Reliable/Totika
When people are unreliable, others can't trust them to keep their promises. If airplanes, trains or buses are late, passengers can miss important appointments. If someone keeps forgetting to do what they said they would do, they let people down. When you are reliable, people can trust you to show up on time, be where you promised to be, to put tools away, to get the job done.

The Future Problem Solving results from our first problem are in.
The children researched on the topic of Food Security and then completed the first 3 steps in the Problem Solving process.
Our year 6 girls team placed 2nd in their group while the year 6 boys were 1st. An outstanding result for these new teams. Well done to Freya, Natalie, Naomi, Stella and Regina, and to Bien, Casey, Robbie, Ben and Elliot.
Our year 7 boys placed 4th in their set and our year 7 individual placed 3rd. This was the first time we had entered an individual so a very pleasing outcome. Congratulations to Thomas, Joshua, Khoa and Jian and to Chetna.
Our year 8 girls placed 3rd and our year 8 boys with 2 new members placed 5th. A very impressive result for Jazlyn, Rachel, Abigail and Zoe and to Jamie, Khoi, Isaac and Leo.
Our topic for term 2 is Rising Sea Levels.
Kohimarama School Book Fair 2025
Whilst it’s sad to say that the Book Fair is over (How good was it this year??!!), we are also pleased to announce that this year was our biggest book fair so far at over $9,000 in sales! The school gets 35% of this amount back to spend on books so a big thank you to our school community for their support
A massive round of applause for all of our helpers - the book fair could not have gone ahead without you!
Congratulations to our two prize pack winners - Chetna (Year 7) and Beatrix (future student).
Thank you to the families who donated books to our school library - Louis and Sabine P, Jacob M, Zoe F and Ollie B.
Until next year……!!!! Remember that the PTA is looking for a new Book Fair coordinator for next year! If this sounds like you please get in touch via
