A Message from Kiri Team
Kia ora,
This term Kiri Team has been Swimming at CLM The Bays in St Johns. It has been a fantastic experience with children consolidating and extending their skills in the water. The children have been extremely well behaved on the bus and in the pool, making the most of their lessons and making us proud. These lessons are a valuable part of the New Zealand Physical Education Curriculum. After 2 weeks of daily swimming lessons there has been marked progress seen in all the children.
Another highlight of this term has been our Kitchen Science Inquiry. Each week the children have been doing different experiments, making predictions, observing reactions and recording the results. There has been plenty of excitement with the bubbles and bangs!
Discovery Learning is part of our morning programme, it provides a foundation for social, emotional, and cognitive development. Through play, children have opportunities to develop interests and work collaboratively in designing and building, art and crafts, maths, literacy and imaginary play. This develops their language skills, confidence and initiative all while encouraging a love of learning.
Ngā mihi - Kiri Team
Anne Bradley, Nikola Karsten, Amy Ewen, Tayla Swart, Lucy Broadhead, Mikaela Yates, Victoria Clark and Mary Tyler.
The Kohimarama Way - Commitment (Manawanui)
"Commitment isn't something that just happens by chance. Commitment is a capacity, and it grows as a muscle grows, by being exercised." Charlotte Jollo Beck.

Patteson House Colour Day
Last Thursday we had our last House Colour Day for the year and it was Patteson’s turn. The school was filled with blue and our Patteson House Captains Joshua C, Carl S, Isabella G and Fletcher D ran some fun activities for Patteson House members during Big Break. The obstacle course was enjoyed by all, as was a good old game of ‘Duck Duck Goose’. Well done Patteson for coming out in blue to support your house!

Enviro
Last week, Kohimarama School completed an Enviro Schools reflection and earned Silver status! To celebrate, the Eco-Warriors hosted an Enviro-Reflection assembly, where they showcased the Enviroschools Guiding Principles (Ngā Mātāpono), which include Learning for Sustainability, Sustainable Communities, Te Ao Māori, Empowered Learning, and Respect for Diversity. The assembly featured performances from the Kapa Haka group, the Junior Choir, a presentation of The Kohimarama Way, and an interactive Reflective Quiz, all highlighting our school’s environmental journey.
Following the assembly, the Eco-Warriors and members of the Gardening Club took the reflection team on a tour of our school grounds, answering questions and providing insights. We are all incredibly proud to have earned our Silver Enviro status, which you can now see displayed on the Enviro notice board at the front of the school.
