A Message from Snell Team
"On Wednesday the 11th of September, all of Hillary and Snell Team got the honour of listening to three well respected rugby enthusiasts: Former Kohimarama School pupil and now Auckland U19s Captain Caleb Woodley, Auckland FPC player Angelica Memeke Vahai and International referee Maggie Cogger-Orr. As part of our Connections Unit we learnt all about passion, motivation, as well as how to work towards a goal. We listened to their experiences, stories and the ups and downs of following your dreams. We also got the opportunity to ask questions, to tap into the extensive experience of these highly respected figures. Two inspiring rugby players aspiring to wear our country's jersey and representing New Zealand on the world stage, as well as hearing about the achieved dream of refereeing Rugby at the Olympics. Listening to these three different experiences was an awesome experience and a perfect way to complete our Connections unit."

"On Thursday, the 12th of September, Snell team had an amazing guest, Julius, from Attitude to talk to us all about 'Tackling Technology.' This linked in well with our Health and Wellbeing week. The tips he gave us fell under four crucial areas. These were the myths, the pros and cons, being positive and to be a user. Julius was a fun, kind, thoughtful person and was an exhilarating speaker. During the technology talk Julius taught us many life skills that followed the line of, being aware about technology and how to use it to our benefit, being a thoughtful person online and how to stay safe in doing so. With this serious topic Julius was fun, and was interesting and engaging. Overall, Julius coming to our school has taught us many tips and tricks about being a ‘user’ of technology that we will take forward."

Students Leaving
As we begin our classroom planning for 2025, we ask those families who have made plans and have a student who will be leaving Kohimarama School at the end of 2024 school year to complete this form. The last day of school is 17 December 2024.
Note: The form does not need to be completed for Year 8 students.
Many thanks for your support in assisting us with our advance planning.
School Disco - Fabulousness
Thank you to our Student Councillors for making our hall turn into Hollywood glamour for a night last Friday and to the 100's of students who came along for a fun time. Thank you also to Mrs Mills and Mrs Eccles for their support in making all the behind the scenes jobs come together.

Well done Isaac!
Junior Kids Lit Competition
Last week, seven of our year 5 and 6 students competed at the Junior Kids Lit competition held at St Mary's Primary School. The teams were given 12 set books by New Zealand authors and have spent the last term reading and studying these.
They were very excited when, at half time, one of their favourite authors, James Russell, turned up to speak to them. Our year 6 team placed 5th and our year 5 team placed 12th.
Cheerleading
On Sunday the Kohimarama Grade 1 and Grade 2 teams competed at their first cheerleading competition of the year, Spring Carnival.
Both teams put on excellent performances -
Starlight grade 1 placed 2nd in their division and Moonlight grade 2 placed 1st.
We are looking forward to our next competition in November.
