A Message from Cowley Team
On Monday, we did some sports with BeActive as part of our Olympics topic. There were 6 different activities: Nerf Wars, Bubble Soccer, Normal Soccer, Sticky Tag, Mini-Golf and Disc Golf. In Bubble Soccer, we ran around bumping into each other in giant bouncy bubbles while playing football. The Nerf War was fun because we got to shoot people with rubber bullets. We wore eye protection goggles to keep us safe. Lots of us had normal football as our favourite activity because we made a connection that we play football and we like kicking balls. Sticky Tag was really fun because we threw balls at people’s back and tummy while they were wearing velcro bibs. In Disc Golf we threw a frisbee into a basket and if it missed you went into a hula hoop and the next turn you tried again. There were yellow cones for sand and blue cones for the ocean. The sand meant you had to pick it up with a silly hand and throw it into the basket. The water meant you had to restart. In Mini-Golf we had to swing the club and some of the holes even had loop-de-loops and obstacles! They were really hard - but Ryder and Gabriel managed to get a hole in one!
At the end the BeActive Staff handed out some certificates for Respect, Friendliness, and Excellence. This was cool because it was following the Kohimarama Way! Maybe one day Bubble Soccer will be in the Olympics just like Breakdancing and Kayak Cross were this year!

The Kohimarama Way - Friendliness
"They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel." Carl W Buccaner. We can all relate to this, when we go somewhere for the first time or we meet people for the first time - maybe friends of our partner or their family. How we are intially welcomed and greeted sets us up for a great meal or evening or long-term relationship. It is the same when we make a mistake and apologise, whether it was BIG or small, how the person reacts, makes a real difference. Have a think about the last time you welcomed a new person into your family or group of friends or how you treated the person who made a mistake that impacted you.

Colenso House Colour Day
Last Wednesday we had the Colenso House Colour Day. The school looked sunny with all of the yellow out and about. The Colenso House Captains managed to run the House Day activities during Big Break as there was a break in the weather. Lots of fun was had with activities such as crazy relays, Infinity Tag and a Paper Scissors Rock challenge. Well done to all those in Colenso who wore yellow and came and supported their house during Big Break. Only one more House Colour Day left this year - Let's go Patteson!
