A Message from Hillary Team
The World of Math is a company which schools can hire to teach kids why we need mathematics. They bring in activities which challenge kids' brains while still being a fun way to make them smarter. The activities you do change based on what year you are in. For example, year 0-4 have the junior activities which are easier and year 5-8 have the senior activities which have activities meant for year 6 and up. While in “The World Of Math” you learn geometry, fractions, remainders and many more based on what activity you choose to do.
In my opinion the best activity or the one I found most fun was the activity called gears, where you would have to spin gears to gain the information necessary for completing the questions on the sheet which everyone got. The sheet we got had all the activities on it and underneath the title of the activity had all the questions. The World of Math is a brilliant opportunity for kids, and I believe will elevate the intellect of the new generation.

World of Math is a group of hands-on math stations that don't necessarily look like math and are really fun. For example, there is a pattern station where you try to make as many patterns as you can. There were nine patterns, but I found you could only do eight without copying any! My favorite station was Ski Race where there are little counters that you race.

The Kohimarama Way - Friendliness
A smile, a hello, a nice to see you are great ways of being friendly to people around our school you haven't met yet. You may be the first, you may be the only, to make another person at our school feel welcome and make their day. If you haven't yet smiled today at another person, give it a go :-)
Year 7 and 8 Inter School Speech Competition
"On Thursday 5th of September, we had three students travel to Dilworth Junior Campus for our Rehu Tai Festival of Oral Language for our RPPA cluster (Speech Cluster Finals). The standard of the competition was of a high and our three students did Kohimarama School proud. The categories were Flash Talk, Rap, Spoken Word and Prepared Speech. Georgia P placed 2nd in Flash Talks, Jayden L placed 2nd in Spoken word and Felix A 3rd in Prepared Speech. The experience of hearing these other great speakers and being a part of the competition will only benefit these three speakers. Well done Georgia, Jayden and Felix!"
Interschool Cluster Speech Finals Years 5 and 6
We wish Amy, Natalie and Oliver all the best tomorrow when they compete against 19 other schools in the Rehu Tai Cluster finals. Doing your best on the day is all we can ask and we are very proud that you are representing our school.
Students Leaving
As we begin our classroom planning for 2025, we ask those families who have made plans and have a student who will be leaving Kohimarama School at the end of 2024 school year to complete this form. The last day of school is 17 December 2024.
Note: The form does not need to be completed for Year 8 students.
Many thanks for your support in assisting us with our advance planning.
