A Message from the Deputy Principals
Dear Parents
Last week, after a large break due to Covid, we celebrated Art in our school with our incredible Art Gallery Exhibition. The Gallery opened last Tuesday with Kapa Haka and the Senior Choir both giving wonderful performances, and the community were able to visit on the Tuesday night, and all day Wednesday and Thursday. All students were given the opportunity to provide 2 pieces of high quality artwork that was then displayed in the Hall. It was a huge team effort as teachers and students have been working hard over the past 2 and a half terms to create the amazing pieces that were displayed. The range of art was pleasing to see from 3D clay sculptures, hanging jellyfish and numerous 2D pieces that took inspiration from the environment and/or a particular artist. A huge thank you too, goes to our ‘Artist in Residence’ Sean Boyd, who worked with a group of Year 7 and 8 students to produce imaginative 3D sculptures using recycled electronics. Thank you for your support in coming to enjoy our students’ artwork and hard effort.
Thanks also to Stonefields School who shared their screens to present the students’ work.

The Kohimarama Way - Friendliness
"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and just be my friend." Albert Camus. "The friendship that can cease has never been real." St Jerome. "The best way to have a friend is to be one." Peggy Jenkins.
Dropping off your child by car in the morning and after school
We appreciate that the roads around the school can get very congested in both the morning and after school. In looking for a place to pull over to let your child out of the car, it can be tempting to park over the dotted yellow lines. Please refrain from doing so, as by stopping on these lines you reduce the visibility of our Road Patrollers who are trying to provide a safe way for students and other members of the community to cross on the pedestrian crossings on Rawhitiroa and Kohimarama roads. The reduced visibility creates a level of danger for our children. If everyone can be mindful of this, it would be much appreciated.
2025 Sibling Out of Zone Places
The Board will soon meet to discuss if there will be any out of zone places for 2025.
If you have moved out of the Kohimarama School Zone and have a preschool sibling due to start in 2025, please can you email hobrien@kohimarama.
Students Leaving
As we begin our classroom planning for 2025, we ask those families who have made plans and have a student who will be leaving Kohimarama School at the end of 2024 school year to complete this form. The last day of school is 17 December 2024.
Note: The form does not need to be completed for Year 8 students.
Many thanks for your support in assisting us with our advance planning.

Congratulations to Carlos P
A big congratulations to Carlos P from Room 12 for winning the 'Hilda Veale Challenge Cup' for taking part in the 'South Auckland Performing Arts Competition' with his piano performances. Carlos also performed in another competition the 'Lewis Eady Junior Music Context for Piano', achieving a Silver Medal in his group (they didn't hand out a Gold Medal this year), and was able to perform on a Steinway and Sons grand piano!
While this is all incredible on its own, Carlos has only been playing the piano for two years!! Well done Carlos - we bet your family is really proud of you, as are we as a school! Tau ana! Keep going!
Auckland Champion of Champions Gymnastics
Zoe and Alexa represented Kohimarama School last week at the Auckland Champion of Champions Gymnastics. This was a tough competition with 30+ competitors in each age group.
Both girls did Kohimarama School proud with their fantastic attitudes toward the event. Zoe finished 6th overall in the Year 7 Girls and Alexa finished 3rd in the Year 8 Girls.
Kohimarama School was the only school with 100% of their athletes on the podium, an awesome achievement!!!
