A Message from Cowley Team
Cowley Team has been immersed in their learning about Kaitiakitanga, enjoying the discovery of environmental issues facing Aotearoa New Zealand, learning about the atua who protect our world, and thinking about how we can make positive change. We celebrated our learning by choosing a medium to share our knowledge, which you can see in Orakei Bay Village this week.
- Persuasive Writing: Students wrote letters, both on paper and Chromebooks, to advocate for environmental change.
- Chalk Pastel Art: Using chalk pastels, students created vibrant artworks depicting their ideas on Kaitiakitanga.
- Advertisements: By using iPads, students crafted persuasive ads to encourage eco-friendly habits.
- Posters: Detailed, colorful posters were designed to highlight environmental issues and persuade positive change.
- Trash Art: A unique project where students created a "trash taniwha" using a chicken wire structure filled with trash, emphasizing recycling and waste management.
- Eco-friendly Inventions: Students designed innovative inventions to tackle environmental problems, showcasing their problem-solving skills.
We are incredibly proud of Cowley Team's creativity and dedication. Each project reflects their deep understanding of Kaitiakitanga and their commitment to being guardians of our planet and we are excited to share our learning with you!
The Kohimarama Way - Reliable
"Do actions agree with words? There's your measure of reliability. Never confine yourself to the words." Frank Herbert. Reliability is the quality that leads others not just to believe you, but to believe IN you.
Roll Return
On Monday 1st July, all schools in New Zealand are required to provide to the Ministry of Education a return detailing all students enrolled at their schools. This return determines our funding and staffing for the remainder of the school year. If your child is going to be absent or late for any reason on Monday 1st July 2024 the office will require a letter or email from a parent/caregiver justifying the student’s absence or lateness from school office@kohimarama.school.nz Thank you in advance

Selwyn House Colour Day
Last week the school was covered in red once more but this time it was for Selwyn House Colour Day! The wonderful Selwyn House Captains Alexa J, Harry H, Sam L and Ollie B. provided some fun activities that Selwyn House members were able to take part in during Big Break. There were three-legged races, wheelbarrow relays, and other mini team games along with a game of 'Simon Says' and 'Red Light, Green Light'. A fun time was had by all that joined in. Go Selwyn House!
House Chant Competition
Our House Captains are running a House Chant Competition as they felt that our current chants need some refreshing. The competition is open to all students at Kohimarama School and entries can be made by a group, pairs or individuals. Entry forms can be collected from the Office or from Class Teachers and must be back to the Office by the 27th of June. For more details see the poster below...
