A Message from the Deputy Principals
Thank You...
What an incredible team of parents who organised Kohimarama's Pre-Loved Sale for Sunday. Thank you to the organising team of Valerie, Emily, Melissa, Antonia, Elizabeth and Christine - such a lot of work before the big day, on the day and after the day. The dream team were also supported by other parents who spent Saturday getting the pre-loved merchandise organised and displayed, and also selling the items on Sunday and packing up. It was a major parent effort, that our students will benefit from, thank you.
Student Fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis
Thank you to all who participated on Friday wearing mufti and as much purple as you could. We have a few students who are still to bring in their $2 but so far we have raised $836.60. I know that this money supports the organisation - big thank you.
Zones of Regulation
You may have heard your child talk about being in 'the Green Zone' or being in the 'Yellow Zone' and wondered what they were referring to! Your child has been learning about the 'Zones of Regulation' which is a curriculum that supports students to self regulate their emotions. It develops vocabulary and understanding around different emotions, why we feel them, and how we behave when we feel them. By having the 'Zones' across the school we have a common understanding/schoolwide approach in supporting students when teaching them to self regulate. Zones of Regulation develops an awareness of different emotions - no emotion is 'bad' or ‘less than’. Students learn that all emotions are important and that they all serve an important function. They also learn what the purpose of each Zone is and eventually develop ‘tools’ to move from one Zone to another for a specific purpose. Check out some of the displays that are up in our classrooms...
The Kohimarama Way - Reliable
"Although there aremany things you can rely on, no one is more reliable than yourself." Jack Weatherford. "You can be the most talented person in the world, but if you're not reliable, you're going nowhere fast." Frank Sonnenberg.
Bringing in a Can of food for the Auckland City Mission - 18-19th June
Each year we support the Auckland City Mission by collecting as many cans of food as we can for them to give to individuals and families in need. We are collecting cans of food next week on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th June. For those Kohimarama families participating, please have your child bring a can of food to class and the Student Councillors will collect them all on Wednesday afternoon. Thanking you in anticipation of your support.
