A Message from Snell Team
The year 6 camp has made its mark as a great highlight of 2024. The bus eased into lakewood lodge under a soft blanket of fog with students brimming with excitement. There were great activities such as kayaking, archery, rock climbing, horse riding, a water slide and Survivor. During Survivor, students had to create a bivouac to protect themselves from the harsh elements of wind and rain as well as building their own fires and even cooking their own lunch and dinner! It is safe to say we have some great cooks here in Year 6. A scrumptious meal of tomatoes, onion, carrot and mince made the cold of the night fade away and smiles were worn all around. A highlight for all was the famous mud run in which students mustered their courage to face the cold, wet mud for a bit of classic kiwi fun. Students thrived in this new environment with relationships being strengthened and fears being overcome. During the last night of camp, each camp group performed their skits with some interesting and humorous originality.
A massive thank you to Lakewood lodge, the teachers and parents for making an amazing 4 days possible.

Te Rōpū Pourewa Kāhui Ako
Kohimarama School, part of Te Rōpū Pourewa Kāhui Ako, which includes Ōrākei School, St Thomas's School, and Stonefields School, recently participated in a collaborative event. Last Thursday, teachers from all four schools gathered to learn Ki o Rahi, a traditional Māori game rich in history and cultural significance. It was inspiring to see teachers fully engage and immerse themselves in the game, with the intention of bringing this dynamic and historical sport back to their classrooms to teach their ākonga.
