Community Feedback
At the end of last year, the Board engaged in research and consultation with the community. The intent was to use the insights as an input to the 3 Year Strategic Plan. Thank you to the parents, teachers, and students for taking your time to have your say in surveys and focus groups. It was an incredibly valuable process.
A summary of the consultation insights is being sent alongside this newsletter. The next section speaks to the main insights and how these have helped shape the Strategic Plan and the 2024 Annual Implementation Plan.
3 Year Strategic Plan & 2024 Annual Implementation Plan
As part of the strategic planning process, the Board agreed that the School Vision and Kohimarama Way continue to be extremely relevant to the school’s direction and for maintaining our unique supportive school culture. A slight change was made to the school’s purpose which now reads:
Be a high achieving community of learners, who are passionate about making a positive difference for themselves and the world.
The strategic plan includes four strategic goals with strategic themes under each.
In line with the strategic themes, a number of initiatives in the annual implementation plan address specific areas raised by the community. These include:
- Academic achievement: A continued focus on core subjects and maintaining high levels of achievement.
- Celebrating student achievement: Recognising the broad range of student achievement and each student’s unique strengths.
- Diverse learning needs: Support for teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Consistent learning environments and approaches: Developing co-teaching strategies to provide greater consistency between single-cell and hub environments (note: further detail on the learning environment approach is in the 27th March Newsletter here)
- Student feedback: Enhancements to learner design giving students reflection and/or feedback to know where they are and what their next steps are.
- Music: Reinvigoration of the school’s music programme.
- Teacher workload and wellbeing: Prioritising staff wellbeing and culture including providing recognition and timely feedback to support professional growth.
- Student wellbeing: Building on current approach, continuing to provide access to counselling, and programmes to support emotional literacy and wellbeing agency.
- Sustainable international student programme: Ensuring the programme delivers positive outcomes for the whole community.
The strategic plan and full implementation plan can be found on the website here.
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to participate in our community, students and staff engagement. We look forward to seeing the benefit to our learners from the implementation of our revised strategic plan.
