School Newsletter - 28th February 2024
A Message from Hillary Team
On Tuesday the 27th of February, we had ‘Meet and Greet’. ‘Meet and Greet’ is when our
parents/relatives come in and see our work that we have been working on. ‘Meet and Greet’
starts at 5pm and ends at 6pm. Students are allowed to come too.
We have been doing lots of Art and writing all about ‘Who am I as a Kohimara Learner’.
We are really looking forward to showing all our hard work that we have been doing during class
time over the last few weeks.

The Kohimarama Way - Honesty
"Being honest may not get you a lot of friends but it'll always get you the right ones." John Lennon. "Honesty is not only the deepest policy but the highest wisdom." Charles Caleb Cotton.
Out of Zone Enrolments
The Kohimarama Board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at
Kohimarama School for 2025. Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment
scheme, which consists of a home-zone and procedures for enrolment for out-of-zone
students. Home Zone students are entitled to enrol at the school at any time.
OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENTS
The Kohimarama School Board has determined that there is one Out of Zone Year 0
place for 2024. Application forms for the out-of-zone ballot may be obtained from our
school office or by email. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of
places available, students will be selected by ballot. The deadline for applications in this
ballot is Wednesday 6th March 2024 and if required the ballot will be held on Wednesday
13th March 2024
For enrolment forms, or to register for the out of zone ballot, please contact Helen O’Brien

Kapa Haka Wednesdays
Kia ora Kohimarama Whānau, we hope you are all well. We just want to remind those people who have signed up to be ready and on time for Kapa Haka practice every Wednesday at 7:45am. Thank you all. Mā te wā!
Band is now full for 2024
We have had such a great uptake of students from Years 4 to 8 who are keen to learn an instrument that our Band is now full for 2024. Practices began last Monday with woodwind - flute, clarinet and saxophone and continued on Thursday with Brass - cornet and trumpet. It is great to welcome Fran and Liam to our school, the tutors who will be teaching the various instruments.
Road Patrol - parent support as supervisors, 4 more...
Are you able to support our road patrollers from 8.25 to 8.55 am one morning a week or fortnight? We will give training and support so you know what to do. We are still looking for an adult for:
- Monday for Kohimarama Road, every fortnight
- Wednesday for Kohimarama Road, either weekly or fortnightly
- Thursday for Kohimarama Road, every fortnight
Please contact Meegan mhill@kohimarama.school.nz if you can support our students in this way. Thank you.
Final Assembly & Sport Assembly Cup Return
All Final Assembly and Sport Assembly Cups are due to be returned to the office by Friday 22nd March (Week 8).
Roll Return 2024
Twice a year, in March and July, all schools in New Zealand are required to furnish the Ministry of Education with a Roll Return detailing all students enrolled at their schools. This Return determines our funding and staffing for the remainder of the school year. If your child is going to be absent or late for any reason on Friday 1st March 2024, the office will require a letter or email from a parent/gaurdian justifying the student's absence from school. This correspondence is to be to the School Office at office@kohimarama.school.nz Thank you in advance
