A Message from Snell team
Last Week, Snell Team got together to learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We went into groups of a mixture of year 6s,7s and 8s. We went around the classrooms finding answers to complete the Treaty of Waitangi puzzle. It was important to be good collaborators as we had not met the other students or worked with them much before.
“It was fun collaborating with different people because we often don’t get to work with other year groups. I enjoyed scavenging for the different information cards around the classroom. It was good that the year 7s and 8s took charge of the year 6s so we stayed on task. It was really fun for one of my first whole Snell team activities.” - Oliver, Year 6
“After creating the groups, our group went to Room 22 and 23 to find information cards across the rooms. We each took turns writing on the Treaty of Waitangi puzzle. When we were finished we each cut out a few pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. Then we all glued them together on A3 paper. I really enjoyed having this experience with the whole Snell Team, and hope to do something similar again some time.” - Ryan, Year 7
“Before the Year 7 and 8s went to the Year 6 Hub we were encouraged to be good role models and leaders while working with the Year 6s. Especially because we had just signed up for our leadership roles and that the teacher would be looking for the best leaders throughout the block. During our time with each other we learnt new collaborating skills and even met some new friends which I really enjoyed. I hope to do this again because it was a great experience.” - Juliette, Year 8
Overall we all had a lot of fun during the process, we each learnt something new about Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and met some new people. Hopefully we get to do more full Snell team activities together throughout the year. - Oliver, Ryan and Juliette
