A Message from Snell Team
This camp was all about the William Pike Challenge, a challenge that the Year 7 and 8’s have been working on since the beginning of this year.
Some of our favourite parts of this camp were doing two outdoor adventures; camping in tents, and snorkelling by Goat Island.
The weather was grim and overcast while we were snorkelling, but we still all had a great time seeing all the marine life! We also did a short hike that ended with an amazing view of the ocean, and visited the Discovery Centre to learn more about the Goat Island Marine Reserve where we did our snorkelling. Altogether, we learnt so many new things and made many great memories during our time at camp.
The camping experience was a great opportunity to learn all about taking care of ourselves, by cooking our own food and setting up our own tents to sleep in.
We all had to bring our own equipment to cook our food, this included: Gas cookers, food and chilly bins. Some of us were very creative with our choices of food, while others a bit more simple - Still, we all had enough to eat in the end.
On our second night we played a few games of spotlight in the dark. We had a great time running around, to mission impossible music, there was also some friendly competition between homerooms.
Overall it was a great adventure with loads of fun and learning; a nice way to finish off our last camp at Kohimarama school.

The Kohimarama Way - Compassion
"There is no small act of kindness. Every compassionate act makes large the world." Mary Anne Radmacher. " A kind and compassionate act is often its own reward." William Bennett.
Behaviour Towards Staff
In the past week our little school has experienced an unpleasant act of behaviour towards a staff member. Our expectations for parents and caregivers are no different than how we expect our staff to behave. Swearing, being aggressive or violent towards any staff member will not be tolerated.
We would like to thank parents and our community who are always respectful towards our staff.
Final Assembly
We are so looking forward to being able to celebrate our students at our 2023 Final Assembly. This is a reminder that this is a school day and all our students are expected to be there. Students need to go straight to the Sacred Heart College Auditorium to meet with their teachers at 10.10 am, not to school as usual. From there the roll will be taken and classes will be ushered into the auditorium in preparation for our assembly starting at 10.30 am. Kiri Team students will sit with their own parents in the Auditorium.
The Assembly will conclude at approximately 12 noon when we invite our Year 8 students and families to meet in the Auditorium's foyer for light refreshments and a final farewell from staff. If your child/ren are in Kapa Haka, they need to be at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium at 9.30 am for a sound check. Please come directly inside and meet with Mrs Lawrence by the stage.
Thank you to the parents who are supporting our classes, by sitting with them, this is much appreciated.
- What: Final Assembly
- When: Friday 15th December
- Time: 10.10 am roll check with their teacher outside the auditorium (inside foyer if wet)

Stationery for 2024
If your child is returning to Kohimarama School in 2024, stationery packs can be ordered on-line through OfficeMax. Ordering thorugh Officemax is open. Lists for Year 1-8 are also available on our school
website if you do not wish to order online.
Please use our pedestrian crossings to keep our students safe
Often it is the difference in time between 2 or 3 minutes to walk to our pedestrian crossings and be supported to cross the roads safely rather than dashing across from our school driveways or hurtling across by the dairy. Those 2 or 3 extra minutes spent daily teach your child a lifelong habit of keeping safe on our very busy roads. It is also makes the difference between the 'heart stopping' moment when a car appears out of nowhere that you weren't expecting, the hard tug you make on your child's arm to get them to hurry over the road or that harsh tone or word you use to ensure your child sticks close to you as you cross the road looking in all directions for vehicles on the road. Wouldn't you rather take those extra 2-3 minutes to talk with your child about the most fun thing they did that day, whether they solved that tricky maths problem they told you about the day before or mastered the whole monkey bars without falling off? Isn't that a more positive start to their afternoon with you? And haven't you got 2-3 minutes to spare out of your busy day for that conversation?
