A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers
We are excited to share some wonderful news about the recent achievements at Kohimarama School, reflecting the hard work and dedication of both our students and teachers.
At the recent Inter-school Athletics for Years 5 & 6, Kohimarama School truly stood out as a force to be reckoned with. Our students demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship, resulting in an impressive number of first, second, and third-place victories. This success is a testament to the incredible efforts of our students, the guidance of our teachers, and the leadership of Don, our brilliant Sports Coordinator.
Don's commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in sports has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in our recent triumphs. His dedication, expertise, and passion for nurturing the talents of our students have not only contributed to their individual growth but have also elevated the overall sporting achievements of Kohimarama School.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Don, the teachers, and every student who participated in the Inter-school Athletics event on Tuesday. Your hard work and sportsmanship have not only brought success to our school but have also created lasting memories for all involved.
Over the past six months, our school has witnessed significant growth in our students' academic results. This success is a direct result of our unwavering commitment to quality teaching and learning, coupled with environments designed to foster success.
From Year 4 to Year 8, our student cohorts have made substantial gains, showcasing the effectiveness of our educational approach. The dedication of our teachers, combined with the enthusiasm and hard work of our students, has created an environment where academic excellence flourishes.
These achievements are a testament to the collective effort of our entire school community. The collaboration between teachers, students, and parents has played a crucial role in creating an atmosphere that nurtures learning and supports the academic growth of each child.
In Mathematics, our students have demonstrated an impressive ascent, with results climbing from 94% to an exceptional 96% across the student cohort. This significant advancement reflects the dedication of our teachers and the hard work put in by our students, showcasing their commitment to mastering mathematical concepts supported by a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach.
Equally noteworthy is the substantial progress in Reading Comprehension, where results have surged from 84% to an impressive 91%. This achievement is a testament to the focus on literacy skills, the Code and the collaborative efforts of our educators and students in cultivating a love for understanding through reading.
Achieving such high percentages and witnessing this rate of growth is truly dramatic and speaks volumes about the commitment to excellence that defines Kohimarama School. It is a testament to the synergy between our passionate teachers, motivated students, and supportive parents.
Students in both Learning Hubs and single classrooms, and in composite classes have all made the same gains in their learning. It's not the building, or the design of the space but the quality of the teaching and learning that determines success. Kohimarama School is proud of the wonderful teaching and support staff that enable learning to thrive for your children.
As we continue this journey of academic excellence, let us celebrate these remarkable achievements and look forward to even greater successes in the future.

Junior Kids Lit Competition
On Friday, two Kohimarama teams competed at the Junior Kids Lit competition.
Our year 5 team placed 2nd and our year 6 team placed 5th.
This is a great result from a dedicated group of children who spent terms 3 and 4 studying 13 books by New Zealand authors.
They got to meet author Katie Furze who read to them from her book, Tuatara and also, author Leonie Agnew, who runs the event.
