School Newsletter - 7th June 2023
A Message from the Principal
Matariki Week - 26th - 30th June 2023
As you may be aware, Kohimarama school is part of a cluster of 4 primary schools (Kohimarama,St Thomas, Orakei & Stonefields) and Selwyn College.
Collectively these schools form ‘Te Rōpū Pourewa’, and have been collaborating to share expertise and work on common goals for several years.
This term, Te Rōpū Pourewa has collaborated to create rich and engaging learning opportunities that involve some or all of the learners in the different schools. An example of this is the practice and performance of a shared waiata, ‘Nei Ra Te Kaupapa.' We will also be creating a professionally made music video in week 8, that will feature and celebrate many of the learners from across the schools. This video will be shared amongst the schools and parent community, and may also be featured more publicly at a special exhibition of this term's learning at Orakei Bay Village at the end of term. It is also possible that this video could be shared on news or social media. Our intention with this video is to show how we are all connected, even though each school is unique.
It is important to note, that no names of children will be shared, but faces would be captured, and learners would be in kapa haka or school uniform. With this in mind, we would like to provide you with an opportunity to ‘opt out’ of the filming.
If you would prefer for your child/ children to not take part in the filming of the music video, please complete and return this form. If you are happy for your child to take part in the filming, there is no need to do anything and your consent will be assumed.
Please note, that if you do choose to opt out of the actual filming, your child will still get to practice and sing the shared waiata with their peers.
